With the foundation of BEST ECONOMY gGmbH, the five associations want to create a framework to establish a sustainable alternative to the World Economic Forum.

Bioland e.V.

Bioland is the leading association for organic farming in Germany. About 7300 farmers, gardeners, beekeepers and winegrowers produce according to the Bioland standards. In addition, more than 1000 processors such as bakeries, dairies, butchers, restaurants and traders are also Bioland partners. Together they share common values that benefit people and environment.

For over 45 years Bioland members have developed an ecologically, economically and socially sound alternative to the intensive conventional farming system that depends on industry and outside investors. Organic farming means taking responsibility for the future. The Seven Bioland Principles for Agriculture in the Future form important cornerstones of this aim.

Bioland is a registered association (in German “eingetragener Verein”) and is a democratic grass roots organisation founded 1971. In representing the interest of its members and partners Bioland promotes societal values and is engaged in the next steps for the way forward towards a sustainable future.

Bundesverband Naturkost Naturwaren (BNN) e.V. is the Association of Organic Processors, Wholesalers and Retailers which represents the interests of the organic food and natural goods sector in Germany. The association participates in the development of national and international regulatory and legislative projects, for example in the enhancements of the EU-Organic Regulations.

The BNN and its member companies promote an integrated ecological economy, healthy nutrition, socially compatible economical conduct and as well as organic food and other organic products. The association has special quality guidelines for the organic food trade, for example the benchmarks for pesticide residues in organic products. BNN Monitoring for Fruit and Vegetables in the whole food trade adds to the established process controls in the ecological food industry.

The association and its members are involved in the further development of the market for organic food and natural products and thereby also in the creation and maintenance of employment in the regions.

Economy for the Common Good

The International Association for the Promotion of the Common Good Economy e.V. in Hamburg supports the international movement and the dissemination of the idea of ​​the Common Good economy. The Economy for the Common Good is …

UnternehmensGrün (UG©) – the German Federal association of green business

Was founded as early as 1992. Representing its members, UG© campaigns for the protection of the environment and a sustainable economy. UG© is a nonpartisan, non-profit and financially independent entrepreneurs’ association. Together with the experts from within the ranks of its members and the executive board, UG© contributes to the legislative process, is consulted in hearings of the German parliament (Bundestag) and develops concepts for sustainable economic development. The members are mainly small and medium-sized businesses.

In addition to political lobby work, UG© facilitates and enables cross-sector networking opportunities and information exchange for its members. Furthermore, UG© strives to increase public awareness by actively promoting key topics of green economy. In its 25 years of history, UnternehmensGrün has contributed towards a more sustainable political framework. UG© is founding member of, the European Sustainable Business Federation.
