That is why you support the BEST ECONOMY forum 2021: I will take part in the Best Economy Forum because climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time that does not stop at our economy and its growth. How to deal with this, however, is ultimately a political decision. As a member of the Bundestag, I think it’s important that we talk about how we can achieve growth – through new ideas and innovations. Business and economic growth should be possible without causing negative effects on the environment such as CO2 emissions. The networking of various actors from research, politics and business is important to meet this challenge.

What do you expect from your participation in the BEST ECONOMY forum 2021? We need new ideas and innovations on how we can achieve (economic) growth without negative side effects such as CO2 emissions. The relevant actors must come together and exchange ideas in order to develop such solutions. This is exactly what I expect from participating in the BEST ECONOMY forum.

What goals do you hope for your company / organization locally, nationally and globally in 2 years? On a political level, I hope that we have set the course in politics to live in a better future – on a local, national and global level. This will still take some time: Networking and international cooperation are necessary for this, because CO2 does not stop at national borders.

What goals do you hope for your company / organization locally, nationally and globally in 5 years? Hopefully in 5 years we will have a selection of new innovations that can support us in this challenge. We should have introduced the lead instrument, CO2 pricing. Further innovations would of course be desirable.

What goals do you hope for your company / organization locally, nationally and globally in 10 years? In 10 years, I hope for comprehensive CO2 pricing and global emissions trading, together with other national measures such as the extensive use of CCS, i.e. the collection and storage of CO2, in order to counteract the emissions that cannot be avoided.
