The “Best Economy Forum” (BEF), an alternative economic summit, took place from Tuesday, 20th April to Thursday, 22nd April 2021 under the theme of “Take action not words”. In this format, the four founding organisations – Bio Hotels, Economy for the Common Good, Bioland and FiBL – invited companies to join a discussion on sustainable business. And a large number accepted.
Over the course of the three-day event, more than 200 participants discussed and exchanged ideas on strategies and ways to achieve sustainable development in companies. Experienced entrepreneurs and moderators accompanied the process and guaranteed effective, personal and intensive matchmaking. Originally planned as a hybrid event to take place at Andechs Monastery, the BEF could only take place digitally in the end. Even so, this year’s BEF was just as lively online thanks to a platform which worked excellently and participants who were eager for knowledge and to share their ideas.

Christian Felber (Founder ecogood.org)
Just in time for the 2nd BEST ECONOMY forum, the EU Commission is presenting the draft for the 1st revision of the Non-financial Reporting Directive or Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (NFRD / CSRD). It forms the legal framework for what we call the balance sheet for the common good and is supplemented by companies’ existing financial reporting obligations. Christian Felber tells the story of the origins of these two reporting obligations, what was to be thought of the old directive and what is to be expected of the new one, and brings this important legislative project into a bigger picture with other regulatory measures of the EU as part of the Green Deal – as well as the larger vision of the GWÖ.

Do you want to save the climate? – We also.
That is why we make new products from hotel linen. This saves you CO2 and waste. My upcycling is Made in Germany. High-quality. Local. Fair.
And this is how it works: I cooperate with laundries who provide me with discarded but high-quality laundry for my series. One thing is important to me: this is not a DIY project but a systemic approach to bring used materials back into the cycle in professional series. Further processing takes place, among other things, in a family business in Schwarzenbach an der Saale. The focus here is on sustainability, regional and CO2-neutral production.
The problem is: upcycling requires a lot of intuition and individual decisions. I pre-sort the fabrics, stains and holes are not processed any further. Slight signs of wear and color differences, however, are part of the concept. This is time-consuming and therefore expensive.
So i need you A customer who appreciates the concept and the story!
